Consulting Services

Our new musicRAIN 2.0 interactive sheet music application would not be the robust product it is today without the latest technological developments from Recordare, including the new Dolet export software that allows musicians to export their scores into a musical standard, creating a composition that is a near perfect replica of the original.

- Curtis Morley, mediaRAIN

File Translation Services

Recordare's MusicXML technology has saved me an enormous amount of time and money in preparing my book. I have rarely come across such attentive customer service and willingness to achieve the best result possible with my file conversions. The MusicXML format has been thoroughly designed and is a big step forward in letting people share music. Fantastic work!

- Simon Fox, fingerstyle guitarist and composer

I submitted a Sibelius document for conversion to Finale 2007. I thought I might receive a conversion that I would have to fiddle with endlessly, but it appeared as if I created it originally in Finale 2007. I will call upon this service again in the future.

- Scott McIntosh, arranger and freelance trumpeter, New York City

My experience with Recordare could not have been a better one. The responsiveness was outstanding and the conversion work was exactly as expected. They are truly a valuable resource!!

- John Blane, Blane Music Preparation

Thanks for the timely turnaround and really nice translation -- I feel a lot better about this big project now!

- Brian Benison, brianbenisonmusic.com Music Preparation

Software

Not since MIDI made its debut in the 1980's has the music software industry seen such a revolutionary and useful tool. MusicXML is the Rosetta Stone of music notation software.

- Robert Puff, RPM Seattle Music Preparation

A huge congrats, kudos, etc. goes out to Recordare. I just finished a new Tuba Concerto. It was originally in Sibelius and took approximately 1 hour to move to Finale via MusicXML. It came out to 50 pages long after cleaning it up. Thanks again to Recordare for this product that has saved me more hours than I could ever count!

- Bryan Doughty, Cimarron Music Press

Dolet is great! I can now transfer files between Sibelius and Finale without any problems. It's amazing software.

- Rocky Kitamura, Music Innovation

Terrific products -- thank you for providing a new musical lingua franca to help us use both Finale and Sibelius to serve our clients to best advantage!

- David Bailey, composer and engraver

I am a professional music copyist and must deal with composers of different platforms, programs, and versions all of the time. Your Dolet for Finale product is a godsend. Many thanks!

- Lee Monroe, Express Music Services

Thanks again for making such a great product. You guys have saved me 2 lifetimes' worth of re-entering torture.

- Joe Ferguson, Georgia Southern University

Recordare is accessible, the web site is clearly organized and written, and the software, for those of us who use music notation heavily, serves a vital purpose with commendable reliability.

- Karl Krelove, music teacher / clarinetist

Thanks to the Dolet plug-ins and MusicXML, musicians no longer have to work in a notation program other than our favorite. All it takes is a PDF for proofreading and a MusicXML file, and all the tweaking can be done in your chosen music software.

- David O'Rourke, jazz guitarist

You are my heroes. You have helped establish MusicXML to the point where we can use it to more easily do something productive. Thanks for writing the Sibelius MusicXML plugin. Now I can move on to the music analysis kinds of things I really want to do.

- Gerald Brown, music/programmer hobbyist

MusicXML

Word-processing and spreadsheet programs have been sharing formats for years, so you can write in one program and share your results with people who prefer something different. Finally, the musical world has realised that it needs the same thing. Its name is MusicXML.

- David Hewson, The Sunday Times

The best way to convert Finale files to Sibelius is definitely via MusicXML, particularly if you export the MusicXML files from a recent version of Finale.

- Daniel Spreadbury, Sibelius Software Ltd.

MusicXML is without question the most mature effort so far in using XML to encode music.

- Darin Stewart, Electronic Musician

Among all the music file formats I analyzed, MusicXML appears to be the most powerful and flexible. Great job!

- Didier Guillion, Myriad Software

Looking for a means for adding notation support to my upcoming music composition package, I finally decided not to reinvent the wheel and to limit notation support to an excellent export feature. Therefore, I came across MusicXML, which I believe is a perfect approach. Thank you for making this great work available to the public.

- Andre Schnoor, Cognitone

A very important benefit of all of your hard work on MusicXML as far as I am concerned is that I use it as a clear, structured and very ‘real-world practical’ specification of what music ‘is’ in order to design and implement my application’s internal data structures. It is easy using an XML reader library (I am using C# and .NET 3.5 under Windows Vista) to parse the elements that I can deal with now whilst skipping anything too fancy/detailed which I will deal with in some later version. I can be confident that your ‘implicit specification’ of music is helping me to avoid foolish decisions in my design through lack of knowledge on my part!

- Jay Chapman, Teesside University, Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning

Thanks go to Recordare for developing MusicXML. I have been able to make a lot of progress implementing FreeDots based on MusicXML in a very short time. This is mostly because MusicXML has a very clear distinction between the graphical representation of musical events, and their sound representation. If you are yourself blind, developing music notation conversion software is extremely complicated, since you can't actually look at the source material you are working with. MusicXML has helped me a lot in this regard, and I've learned a lot about the notational conventions sighted people use since I started to develop FreeDots.

- Mario Lang, FreeDots developer

Customer Support

WOW! Never expected such a quick response! All I can say is a big thank you. You folks sure know how to create loyalty to your company. Continued success with all your products. I'll be popping on your site more often to see what you're up to and offering. And I WILL be talking your company up.

Digital Sheet Music

I was thrilled to find the piece I was looking for, and not having to buy an entire book of selections for just the one song. And I loved being able download it right away.

My son was required to have sheet music on his strings project and this was a wonderful way to obtain the music. Thank you!

I was in an immediate need for a copy of sheet music and was able to download it almost as fast as I am able to type this review. Very impressed.

I needed Schubert's Ave Maria quick! There it was. Credit card, a few clicks and I had it in my hands. Great quality too.

Thank you - it was easy and great. Will give to my granddaughter who plays piano.

Transaction was fast, efficient, and perfect. Purchased a print only which I was able to print within a minute of purchasing. Would buy again without hesitation.

It's a fantastic idea. Especially for travelers like me.
